It's been some time now since the latest release of Adidas Ardwick X Oi Polloi 1/500's took place. And out of the 500 pairs, it now looks like things have gone quiet, with only one genuine pair being sold on eBay. It appears that all the people who bought them to resell have made, and spent their profit earned (this was a while ago) and the collectors are now holding on to them for dear life! Unless one of them becomes short of cash, obtains another pair for a good price, or just so happens to not want to be an Adidas collector anymore (Does happen.. Occasionally). Only then will you see more pairs for sale online.
True to the price trend for these trainers when being resold, the one pair of Ardwick for sale on eBay are being sold for a little under £500. Considering there are only five hundred pairs, this could still be a decent investment down the line for someone who has a bit of money to spend and wants to put them away for a good few years. When trainers are even harder to find for sale, they will most probably command more money when a pair does finally come up for sale at auction. Especially in the most common, more desirable sizes, like UK 8, 9 and 10.
Ardwick's aside, I seen someone the other day selling a pair of Adidas GT Manchester Spezial on eBay. The person was selling them as a pair of 1/500's, even though they were just your average pair of GT's. I think it was just a case of the seller not knowing the difference between the two. The low price and non-existent "1/500" at the back of the shoes gave it away instantly.
This could cause the seller a problem down the line if a buyer, who doesn't know the difference between normal GT Manchester's and 1/500, wins them in the auction and thinks they've managed to grab themselves an original pair of Adidas Manchester 1/500's. Only to find out that they are a reproduction produced in considerable numbers if compared to the 500 pairs of the extremely sought after, rare Adidas 1/500 Manchester. Note: These green Ardwick's do not have the 1/500 symbol / logo (neither embossed wording or print) at the back of the shoe.
